Secrets of Nails - A Clues About the Overall Health...
Did you know your nails can reveal clues to your overall health? A touch of white here, a rosy tinge there, or some rippling or bumps may be a sign of disease in the body. Problems in the liver, lungs, and heart can show up in your nails. Though nail changes accompany many conditions, these changes are rarely the first sign. And many nail abnormalities are harmless -- not everyone with these type of nails has problems. If you are concerned about the appearance of your nails, then you better see a skin doctor dermatologist or a Physician before taking any decision. Keep reading to learn what secrets your nails might reveal.
Very pale nails are sometimes linked to aging. But they can also be a sign of serious illness, such as Anemia, Congestive heart failure, Diabetes, Liver disease, Malnutrition.
If the nails are mostly white with darker rims, this can indicate liver problems, such as hepatitis. In this image, you can see the fingers are also jaundiced, another sign of liver trouble.
One of the most common causes of yellow nails is a fungal infection. As the infection worsens, the nail bed may retract, and nails may thicken and crumble. In rare cases, yellow nails can indicate a more serious condition such as severe thyroid disease or psoriasis.
Nails with a bluish tint can mean the body is not getting enough oxygen. This could indicate an infection in the lungs, such as pneumonia.
If the nail surface is rippled or pitted, this may be an early sign of psoriasis or inflammatory arthritis. Psoriasis is a skin condition that starts in the nails 10% of the time.
Dry, brittle nails that frequently crack or split have been linked to thyroid disease. Cracking or splitting combined with a yellowish hue is more likely due to a fungal infection.
If the skin around the nail appears red and puffy, this is known as inflammation of the nail fold. It may be the result of lupus or another connective tissue disorder.
Dark lines beneath the nail should be investigated as soon as possible. They are sometimes caused by melanoma, the most dangerous type of skin cancer.
Biting your nails may be nothing more than an old habit, but in some cases its a sign of persistent anxiety that
could benefit from treatment. Nail biting or picking has also been linked to obsessive-compulsiv e disorder. If you cant stop, its worth discussing with your doctor.

Highest Waterfall in the World - Angel Falls
At fifteen times the height of Niagara Falls, The Angel Falls is the worlds highest waterfall, with a height of 979 meters (3,212 ft) and a plunge of 807 meters (2,647 ft). It is located in the Canaima National Park , an UNESCO World Heritage site in the Gran Sabana region of Bolivar State , Venezuela . It is one of the country's top tourist destinations despite its isolated location.
The height of the falls is so great, that before getting anywhere near the ground, the water is atomized by the strong winds and turned into mist. And the mist can be felt a mile (1.6 km) away! The base of the falls feeds into the Kerep River (alternatively known as the Rio Gauya), which flows into the Churun River , a tributary of the Carrao River.
The History:
Apparently, the falls were not known to the outside world until American aviator Jimmie Angel flew over them on November 16, 1933 during a flight searching for a valuable ore bed. Returning on October 9, 1937, Angel tried to land his Flamingo monoplane, El Rio Caronia at the top of the mountain, but the plane was damaged when the wheels sank into the marshy ground. He and his three companions, including his wife Marie, were then forced to descend the mountain on foot. It took them 11 days to make their way back to civilization, but news of their adventure spread, and the waterfall was named Angel Falls in his honor. Angel's plane remained on top of the mountaintop for 33 years before being lifted out by helicopter. It was restored at the Aviation Museum in Maracay and now sits outdoors on the front of the airport at Ciudad Bolvar.
